พบพักตร์ พิศภาพ: ความทรงจำผ่านใบหน้าในชุดผลงานสะสมของพิพิธภัณฑ์ศิลปะร่วมสมัยใหม่เอี่ยม คัดสรรผลงานจากชุดสะสมของพิพิธภัณฑ์ศิลปะร่วมสมัยใหม่เอี่ยม จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ เพื่อเป็นการเฉลิมฉลองที่ทางพิพิธภัณฑ์ฯได้ขยับขยายมาเปิดหอศิลป์ ‘ใหม่อีหลี’ ในจังหวัดขอนแก่น จึงอยากนำเสนอชิ้นงานในชุดสะสมแก่ผู้ชมในพื้นที่ โดยจัดแสดงผลงานจิตรกรรม ประติมากรรม ภาพพิมพ์ ภาพถ่าย และผลงานภาพเคลื่อนไหว และศิลปะจัดวางของศิลปินไทยกว่า 17 ท่าน

ผลงานในนิทรรศการบางชิ้นมีอายุกว่าสามสิบปี ซึ่งเป็นช่วงแรกของการเริ่มสะสมผลงานศิลปะไทยร่วมสมัยของคุณฌอง มิเชล เบอร์เดอเลย์ ผู้ร่วมก่อตั้งพิพิธภัณฑ์ศิลปะร่สมสมัยใหม่เอี่ยม อันเป็นชิ้นงานที่มีความหมายต่อห้วงอารมณ์ส่วนตัว และเป็นแรงบันดาลใจให้เขาเริ่มสนับสนุนศิลปินไทยรุ่นใหม่ จนเกิดเป็นชุดสะสมของพิพิธภัณฑ์ฯ จนถึงทุกวันนี้ การชมงานนิทรรศการในครั้งนี้อาจนำท่านกลับไปนึกย้อนสู่ประสบการณ์ส่วนตัว หลากใบหน้าของบุคคลที่ท่านลืมไปแล้ว ที่ค่อยๆ ปรากฏด้วยเส้นแสงและเส้นสายหลากมิติ บ้างแจ่มชัด และบ้างก็พร่าเลือน

MAIELIE proudly presents a traveling exhibition, Face to Face: A Recollection Through Portraits from MAIIAM Contemporary Art Museum, a gathering of works from the museum’s private collection, ranging from paintings, sculptures, printmaking, photographs, video art, and installations from 17 Thai artists. The exhibition celebrates the museum’s establishment of the ‘MAIELIE’ Art Space in the Khon Kaen province; MAIIAM would like to present our collection to the locals.

Several works within this collection date back over 30 years, when collector and museum co-founder Mr. Jean-Michel Beurdeley began collecting works from contemporary Thai artists. As such, these works hold great sentimental value to Mr. Beurdeley, inspiring him to support the new generations of Thai artists, resulting in the collection as it is today. A viewing of this exhibition might invoke feelings of personal nostalgia as the faces of people you’ve forgotten are rendered in a multitude of styles, some stark and clear, others faded with time.
