“...ผมสนใจเรื่องราวในชีวิตประจําวันและวัสดุรอบตัวที่สามารถนํามาใช้สร้างสรรค์ผลงานทั้งหมดอย่างไร้ขีดจำกัดประเด็นที่เกี่ยวกับสังคมร่วมสมัยในงานของผม พูดความสัมพันธ์ของมนษุย์ ธรรมชาติ และสิ่งที่มีกระบวนการของการรู้รับทางความคิดเข้ามาคาบเกี่ยว”

วัลลภ หาญ สันเทียะ  ใช้ชีวิตและทํางาน อยู่ที่จังหวัดเชียงใหม่ ประมาณกลางปี 2562 เขาได้ริเริ่มสร้างสรรค์ผลงานศิลปะอีกครั้ง ที่ชื่อว่า ‘ CLOUDS ’ จากการเริ่มต้นเฝ้ามองและสังเกตเห็นถึงความเปลี่ยนแปลงทางสภาพภูมิอากาศของฤดูฝนในแต่ละวัน เพื่อเก็บบันทึกข้อมูลทั้งหมดและนำมาทำงานชุดนี้ โดยเลือกใช้วัสดุที่ผู้คนในสังคมพบเจอ แต่มักมองข้ามไปในชีวิตประจําวัน สื่อสารผ่านผลงานชวนกระตุ้น ให้ผู้ชมตั้งคำถามต่อนิยามที่แท้จริงของกฎเกณฑ์ในชีวิต  การสร้างผลงานจิตรกรรมชิ้นหนึ่งๆ เขามักจะแสวงหาเทคนิคเฉพาะตัวและซ่อนนัยยะบางอย่างแฝงอารมณ์อันหลากหลายในการสร้างสรรค์งาน

การทํางานของเขาจึงเป็นเสมือนการบันทึกเรื่องราวในชีวิตประจําวันหรือนำสิ่งที่คุ้นชินมาปรับเปลี่ยนกายภาพ เพื่อสร้างความสัมพันธ์ที่ไม่คาดคิดระหว่างมนุษย์กับธรรมชาติเหล่านั้น เฉกเช่น การนําวัสดุที่หาได้ตามท้องถนนมาบอกเล่า หรือแม้กระทั่งการเลือกใช้เฉดสีอันแตกต่างกันในแต่ละช่วงเวลา จนทำให้รู้สึกชวนฉงน รวมถึงลายเส้นอันหลากหลายที่ปรากฏอยู่บนชิ้นงานที่ถูกสร้างให้ดูตั้งใจจนเกินจริง ผลงานชุดนี้จึงเสมือนเป็นการใช้ธรรมชาติเป็นตัวโอบอุ้มมนุษย์และหล่อหลอมให้ทุกสิ่งทุกอย่างกลมกลืนจนกลายเป็นหนึ่งเดียวกัน

Thai artist Wanlop Hansunthai lives and works in Chiang Mai, Thailand. Since about the middle of 2019, he has been working on his works, collectively titled ‘ CLOUDS ’. His inspirations were formed through his observations of the ever-changing rainy weather, which he watched and took note of extensively in order to gather insight for his artworks. By selecting materials most of us see on a daily basis yet often ignore, he conveys in his work a powerful message; one that asks the viewer to question the true definition of the rules of our lives and societies. In the creation of each of his works, Hansunthai explores a plethora of techniques and interweaves layers of many hidden emotions and thoughts within, too.

Thus, the creation of Hansunthai’s works could be seen as an equivalent to a diary entry, or a recording of daily routine which has been altered in some way. To emphasize the unique connections between humans and nature, he utilizes the materials that may be found under a dirt road for example, and incorporates them into the story. To build emotion and atmosphere, he carefully selects shades and tones of colours. To create cohesion and artistic focus, he manipulates lines and shapes. ‘ CLOUDS ’ therefore depicts nature as a support for humans, and discusses the growth of our environmental surroundings, with the two worlds of human and nature colliding and blending into one.
